That’s right. Today is officially my 30th birthday (or my second annual 29th birthday, as I have been referring to it all year), which means it will be a day of reflection on the blog. I’m not going to lie, until recently I was really having a hard time with the idea of turning 30. Not because I think 30 is old (it’s not!), and not because I’m not thankful to just be here having another birthday at all. I think it was because I kept focusing on the fact that it was the “end” of something. The end of my twenties. The end of an era.

A lot happened during my twenties. Here’s a little decade in-review: I met my husband when I was 21, got engaged at 22, married at 23, was expecting my first child at 24, gave birth to my first baby at 25, spent 26 becoming acclimated to motherhood, had my second child at 27, adjusted to having two children at age 28, moved to a new home (and started this blog) at 29, and now here I am. After doing some soul searching and trying to figure out exactly why 30 was such a hard number for me to swallow, I finally convinced myself to see it for what it really is. It’s not the end of anything. It’s a new beginning. I am so excited to find out what’s in store for this next decade. I look forward to a lot of wonderful things: Watching my boys grow and change. Spending time with friends and family. Continuing to explore where this blog will lead me. Learning and continuing to grow personally and professionally. More children? Ok maybe that’s overly ambitious, let me rephrase that. Another child? Maybe. As for the more immediate future, I’m trying to emotionally prepare myself for the fact that my sweet little Aiden will be starting pre-school in just a few days. Where has the time gone?
Our family has been so blessed and we have so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for every moment of this life I’ve been given, and I am thankful for each and every one of you who take the time to read my blog. It means more to me than you know.
My twenties were wonderful and I’d like to think that my thirties will be even better. So here’s to the big 3-0! Besides, 30 is the new 20 anyway. Right? Someone tell me I’m right….
