Ok, I warned you that you’d be seeing lots of painted glass projects! I can’t help it, I honestly love this glass paint. It’s a lot of fun. And this project had three of my favorite qualities: quick, easy and inexpensive! I created a Monogrammed Hurricane Candle Holder in less than 5 minutes.
What you’ll need:
- Glass Hurricane Candle Holder or Vase (I found mine for under $5.00 at Walmart.)
- Martha Stewart Glass Paint in your choice of color (I used the Metallic Opaque in “Sterling.”)
- Martha Stewart Glass Stencils
- Paint Dauber
- Candle
- Filler (I used old wine corks.)
Please ignore the fact that my stencils obviously need a good cleaning! Eww. Clearly I’ve been putting them to good use.
First, I placed the outline/design stencil on the glass, and dabbed my paint on with the paint dauber. I removed it immediately, while the paint was still wet. Next, I centered my monogram stencil within the borders of my design, and repeated the same process (dab paint, remove stencil). Just add a candle and some filler, and you’re done! The paint dries quickly, and takes about a month to cure completely. You could also bake it on for a faster cure (30 minutes at 350 degrees, but be sure to place the glass in the oven while it’s cool and allow it to heat up gradually! You don’t want to clean up shattered glass.)
