Good news! The furniture crisis has been averted. I mentioned yesterday that our Craigslist dresser deal (aka one of the main pieces in the new big boy room) fell through. After searching the city high and low and stalking Craigslist like a hawk, we found one!
Here’s how it went down: I asked my Atlanta bloggers’ group (aka my thrifty accomplices) to be on the lookout for an inexpensive dresser for me if they happened to be out thrifting. In the meantime I was repeatedly searching the same thrift stores over and over, and most likely starting to creep out the employees by my constant presence. One of my fellow bloggers, Jill, shared a couple of Craigslist links with me that I had overlooked. (Maybe my vision was getting blurry from scanning the listings for too long.) One of them was a little overpriced but I loved it, and one of them was super-duper cheap and would also work just fine. I contacted both of them – attempting to scoop up the cheap one while also negotiating a lower price on the expensive one as a backup plan. The owner of the cheap one never got back to me, and the owner of the expensive one wasn’t willing to budge on the price. I asked her to keep me in mind if they aren’t able to sell it for the listing price, and she agreed. In the meantime we found and arranged to pick up the infamous dresser that we ultimately didn’t get since it was sold before we could physically get to it. Cut to me frantically trying to find a dresser before Wednesday (filming day). Suddenly the clouds parted and angels began to sing when I received a text from the expensive dresser lady saying their buyer was a no-show and she would be willing to accept my lower offer on the dresser. Yay!
So, now we have a dresser which will be getting the lime green and glazed treatment like this one.
Tomorrow the room makeover officially starts! Stay tuned for updates and behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram. Can’t wait to share the transformation with you soon!
Are you a thrift store stalker too? Ok, that sounds bad, but you know what I mean. Do you scan the Craigslist furniture listings regularly? Or better worse yet, have the app on your phone (like me)? If so, confess!
