Note: Part 2 of my boys’ bedroom makeover will air on HLN today, (Friday, March 22,) at 5pm EST & tomorrow (Saturday, March 23) at 8am EST.
I mentioned the other day that my next order of “DIY” business would be to make over our master bedroom. That process will hopefully start this weekend with refinishing our dresser. I’m going white with it (I know, not super exciting) but I’m bringing mostly navy blue accents into the room so I want to go crisp white with the furniture.
Just for fun, let’s look once again at that embarrassing, messy photo of our bedroom sitting area.
So far since this photo was taken, I’ve moved the rocking chair into the guest bedroom and moved the desk to a different wall. I’m going to be bringing in some seating, curtains, pillows, artwork and our new rug to this area of the room. This means that thrifting is in my future!
As for other updates, remember this quatrefoil photo art that used to hang above the dresser in the office/living room?
Well, since we relocated that to the boys’ room (see below), we were left with a gaping empty space above the dresser in here.
I fished this art out of the basement storage room to serve as a temporary replacement.
We bought this artwork at Z Gallerie about a million years ago. I don’t want to commit to it in here, so I opted to lean it instead of hanging it on the wall. This is definitely our most wild/modern room of the house so if this brightly colored abstract piece will fit in anywhere, it would be in here.
I also brought a mirror from our bedroom downstairs to the family room. This mirror has been leaning against the wall in our bedroom for months awaiting a spot above our non-finished dresser. Now I guess we’ll have to come up with a new mirror for that spot. I’ve been struggling since we moved into this house with a decorating solution for this awkward behind-the-cabinets setup. Our house is a split level with a sunken family room, and you can see the back of the kitchen cabinets. There is a dresser/sideboard situated below the cabinet-backs, but I can’t hang anything above the dresser due to the weird arrangement. Here’s a before and after.

Sometimes it’s fun to “shop” around your house and change things up a bit. Have you been updating or rearranging any rooms lately?
