Since I’ve been cooped up inside with a new baby, I’ve been doing a lot of little craft projects while Jonah naps during the day. One quick, easy project I made was this glitter Christmas garland, and today I’m showing you how!
What you’ll need for this project:
- Sizzix Big Shot & Sizzix Bigz Die – Circle 4″ (or a circle template cut out of paper or card stock, but the Sizzix makes it super quick and easy.)
- Glitter Cardstock in silver and gold
- Scotch Tape or Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
- Jute Twine
- Pen
- Glue
First, place your glitter card stock on top of your die cut and sandwich it between two cutting mats, then crank it through your Sizzix machine. (Tutorial here.) OR trace a circle template and cut it out by hand, creating as many as you’d like depending on how long you want your garland to be.
I decided to alternate silver and gold circles, and I made gold Christmas trees to stick onto the silver circles. For the trees, simply draw a triangle to create a template, trace it onto the back of your glitter card stock, and cut it out. Cut out a tiny rectangle for the tree trunk. I also used a couple different types of gold glitter cardstock since it’s what I had on hand.
Glue your “trees” onto the silver circles.
Use hot glue or scotch tape to attach a long strand of jute twine to the backs of your circles.
Then, hang your garland!
(By the way, you can find the DIY framed chalkboard tutorial here, and the monogram wreath tutorial here.)
I love simple craft projects, especially those that can be finished during naptime! Have you finished decorating for the holidays? Do you decorate with handmade crafts? I’d love to hear about your favorite holiday decor!
