Oh my goodness, friends! Nesting has set in big time, and with 6 weeks left until my due date, I’m thankful to have some motivation to get things done (hopefully) in time for baby. We worked on so many projects over the weekend, and I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been doing, but most of the projects are only halfway done! Chris started on our deck makeover (it desperately needs to be stained and made livable), we started a furniture refinishing project, I worked on some things in the playroom, did some Halloween crafting, and finally started on the nursery. I plan on painting it today, so I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, I wanted to share with you our recent adventure, aka “babymoon” road trip! One of my best friends got married in Indiana a couple weeks ago, and at 7 months pregnant I served as a (very large) bridesmaid. My in-laws were kind enough to come stay with the boys, and Chris and I took a whirlwind trip up to Indiana. We stopped over in Nashville on the way there to break up the drive, then made a pitstop in my hometown of Muncie, Indiana, then headed up to Fort Wayne for the wedding, back down through Muncie for my niece’s first birthday party, stopped in Knoxville for a night, then came home.
We used our Marriott points to splurge and stay at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville. If you’ve never been there, I highly recommend it! It’s enormous and beautiful. There are lots of shops and restaurants inside the resort, and our room overlooked an atrium which was so pretty.
Of course in the midst of this trip, you know I made time for some thrifting. 🙂 Chris and I found a cute antique shop to check out, and there were lots of treasures ranging in price from cheap to ridiculously expensive.
I spotted these brass andirons which I thought looked interesting.
And then I looked at the price tag.
Yikes!
I was absolutely in love with this antique file cabinet (or whatever it is). It’s a good thing we didn’t have room in our car to bring it home!
I did score this cute little brass bowl for $3.00.
We also discovered a cool little coffee shop called Barista Parlor. I’m not a coffee drinker (although Chris is, which you may recall from this post about roasting his own coffee beans), but I loved the marquee sign they had out front!
We finally made it to Indiana, and the wedding was beautiful. Here’s a photo of Chris and I getting ready to head to the church. Thankfully my sweet friend let me wear a maternity bridesmaid dress!
This is the beautiful church where the wedding took place.
We stayed in Knoxville on the way home, and we loved the cute little square downtown. There were plenty of restaurants and shops to explore. I wish I had taken pictures but I didn’t.
It was a nice little trip, but I was very happy to get home to my boys! Now, the projects continue until this little baby makes his or her arrival. Stay tuned!
